SONGS AND MEANINGS

1.The Chenrezig Mantra (Avalokiteshvara):
OM MANI PADME HUNG
The Chenrezig Mantra is one of the most meaningful and powerful mantras as it is said that the six syllables purify the six realms of existence of all forms of suffering.
OM. Removes pride, purifies suffering in the god realm and frees one from rebirth in it.
MA. Removes jealousy, purifies suffering in the demigod realm and frees one from rebirth in it.
NI. Removes desire and attachment, purifies suffering in the human realm and frees one from rebirth in it.
PE. Removes ignorance and prejudice, purifies suffering in the animal realm and frees one from rebirth in it.
ME. Removes poverty, purifies suffering in the hungry ghost realm and frees one from rebirth in it.
HUNG. Removes hate and aggression, purifies suffering in the hell realms and frees one from rebirth in it.
Chanting the Chenrezig Mantra, the Mantra of the Bodhisattva of Compassion, is an antidote to the natural tendency that our mind has towards feeding and holding on to anger. Reciting this six syllable Mantra will cause compassion to gradually and naturally arise in one’s mind and as a result will reduce one’s suffering and that of all beings. Through the power of this great compassion one will awaken to his or her highest potential, perfect enlightenment, and one will be reborn in the pure land of immeasurable joy, Dewachen.

2.The Guru Rinpoche Mantra:
OM AH HUNG BENZRA GURU PEMA SIDDHI HUNG
Padmasambhava, or Guru Rinpoche, is said to have transmitted Vajrayana Buddhism to Tibet, Bhutan and neighboring countries in the 8th century AD. By reciting the Guru Rinpoche Mantra with confidence and strong devotion in one’s heart, one is imbued with his blessings. Outer obstacles and inner obstacles will be removed and through the purification of our body, speech, and mind compassion and the desire to be beneficial to others will arise.
OM AH HUNG. Represents the transformative blessings of the body (OM), speech (AH), and mind (HUNG) of Guru Rinpoche and all the Buddhas, VAJRA. Like a diamond cuts through anything but is itself completely indestructible, the unchanging wisdom of the Buddhas can never be destroyed and cuts through all delusion and obscuration.
GURU. The blessing of our Guru, who is endowed with every quality, who embodies wisdom, knowledge, compassion, and skilful means.
PADMA. Means lotus and signifies the Lotus family of the Buddhas and their enlightened speech. The name Padmasambhava, the “Lotus-born,” refers to the story of his birth on a blossoming lotus flower.
SIDDHI. Through receiving the blessing of ordinary Siddhis (attainments), all obstacles in our lives are removed and all our good aspirations are fulfilled.
HUNG. Represents the wisdom mind of the Buddhas and is the sacred spark of the mantra, like proclaiming its power and truth – ”So be it!”

3.The Dzambhala Mantra:
OM DZAMBHALA DZALIN DRAYE SOHA
Dzambhala means precious golden deity, one who gathers the wealth of spirituality, the Buddha Dharma, and material security to bring it in to our lives. Dzambhala is a manifestation of Buddha Ratna sambhava. It is believed that his practice can confer the blessings of increased wealth, wisdom, virtue, and longevity. The Dzambhala Mantra helps to eliminate inner and outer poverty.  With a sincere motivation to accumulate merit, purify our negative karma, as well as make prayers for all sentient beings to be freed from all poverty and all sufferings, without doubt – one will certainly receive the vast blessings and protection of Dzambhala and all other wealth deities.
